Interviewing Blanca Ferrer from year 12 on her chess experience, we explored possible reasons behind the absence of females in chess.
Blanca plays mostly online and with her family. She explained that as most chess clubs are predominantly male, most girls don't feel welcome to join them. This is one of the reasons she wants to join the new school chess club-in-creation: to have the opportunity to play with more people and improve her chess skills. We also encourage you to join the new school chess club once it’s open, whether you're an experienced chess player or new to the game. Every grandmaster was once a beginner too, after all!
