The concept of Halloween originates from the Celtic festival of Samhain where people wearing costumes would light a bonfire to ward off evil spirits. This festival was first documented over 2000 years ago by Romans who had conquered the area.
The modern Halloween has evolved from this ancient tradition that marked the end of the light time and the start of the dark one; on this night, the boundaries between the world of the living and the world of the dead would become blurred.
