Street Child United, a UK-based charity, seeks to improve street children’s lives worldwide. In an online meeting, Jasmin Akter, one SCU’s Young Leaders, described her dismal, 7-year experience at a Bangladeshi Refugee camp as a child, where she reports being treated like an animal and struggling with depression. She was the only girl there to play cricket, or any sport, and she would often be criticized for this with comments such as "It's wrong for a girl to play sport".

In 2019, she was named one of BBC’s 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World. After playing at the SCU Cricket World Cup, the people who once told her to quit congratulated her and even asked her to train their children. Jasmin’s story shows how SCU can change lives.
Donate to contribute to their admirable efforts.
