There are thousands of cities and regions that attract tourists from around the world. These are my top 5 that I have had the pleasure of experiencing and would highly recommend visiting whenever you get the chance:
1. Salamanca: This Castilian city is filled with magnificent buildings and its centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Salamanca has 2 cathedrals, a mesmerising Plaza Mayor and plenty of fabulous Plateresque architecture.
2. Cáceres: Cáceres is a very pleasant medieval city with small cobbled streets and multiple churches and palaces. Other landmarks include the symbolic Bujaco tower and the 15th century Cathedral of Santa María, while the city, Culinary Capital of Spain for 2015, also has a notable gastronomy.
3. Alentejo: A region in the south of Portugal, Alentejo contains various landscapes, including coastal as well as mountainous areas. Moreover, there are numerous cultural landmarks as well, inlcuding the ancient capital Evora, which boasts a 13th century Gothic cathedral.
4. Bordeaux: The 9th largest city in France, Bordeaux is another UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its magnificent architecture.
Relatively modern neoclassical and classical buildings such as the Town Hall and the Grand Théâtre as well as older landmarks, including the Cathedral of Saint Andrew make Bordeaux an attractive metropolis.

5. Tbilisi: The capital of the small nation of Georgia, Tbilisi is a very varied city, a visual mixture of cultures, religions and ages. Recent architectural achievements, such as the Clock Tower, are seen in the modern parts of the city, while more historical landmarks include the superb Narikala Fortress.
