From the 28th to the 31st of October, Duke of Edinburgh participants went to Cuenca for an expedition. The trip consisted of challenging activities and the aim of the expedition was to work as a team to complete tasks.

We set off at 2 p.m. on the 28th of October. The 4-hour-long bus journey landed us in Uña, where we would be staying for the next few days.
On Friday 29th we went to Via Ferrata: a route around a cliff’s edge. We were attached by harnesses to the cliff and we made our way, climbing, to the end of the route. David Savage from Year 10 went on the trip and he commented that he found the Via Ferrata “suuuper scary mainly because the foot grips were far away from each other and we were really high up”. The activity was frightening, and for some, it was a huge challenge.
Another part of the trip was walking. We embarked on walks into the mountains, where the views were spectacular. It was difficult, cold and wet but we worked as a team to get through it.
On the last day of the trip, we visited the city of Cuenca. We split up into groups and explored the city before heading back home.
The trip was very challenging at times but it was extremely rewarding and those that participated made lots of memories.
Thank you to Sr Villalba, Mr Baldwin and Sra Gonzales, who accompanied us on the trip.
