Gingerbread House

Ingredients:

For the dough

  • 250g unsalted butter

  • 200g brown sugar

  • 7tbsp golden syrup

  • 600g plain flour

  • 2tsp baking powder

  • 4tsp ground ginger

For the decorations

  • 200g flaked almonds

  • 2 egg whites

  • 500g icing sugar

  • 125g mini chocolates

Method:

  1. Melt the butter, sugar and syrup together in a pan

  2. Mix the other ingredients in a bowl then add in the butter mixture

  3. Combine the dough into a stiff mixture

  4. Cut out the dough using the template on this website: Simple gingerbread house recipe | BBC Good Food

  5. Bake at 180C for 12 minutes.

  6. Stir the icing sugar and egg whites together to make a thick icing.

  7. Spoon the icing into a piping bag and decorate the gingerbread house.

  8. Leave to dry, then decorate the gingerbread house with the chocolate and the almonds!
