Thanksgiving

28 November 2020

We're sure that many of you have noticed the shifts in seasons and the chilly morning air: the holiday season is definitely here. But before we get ahead of ourselves and jump straight to December and Christmas, let's not forget about November. Whether you are American, Spanish or Portuguese, we are an international school and our cultural differences unite us into one, whole community. Here are some traditional ways of how people in the US celebrate Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a celebration spent with family and close friends. In the US people prepare a large dinner, with the main course a delicious turkey with cranberry sauce, followed by dishes such as mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy, stuffing, pumpkin pie and cornbread. Before starting the meal each person states something they are thankful for. Then the guests proceed to share their latest news, play games and a variety of fun activities are organized.

It is an occasion to express your gratitude for everything and everyone you have been blessed with and a day to sit back and count your blessings.
