April, May and June traditionally herald the start of external exams for some of our students. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the cancellation of many exams this summer. The alternative marking system, the "Centre Assessed Grade", has given rise to potential confusion with students sitting several assessments to provide evidence for their grades. Here we have the insight of two 6th form students.
Laraine Le’er Li, in Year 12, believes that doing several papers rather than
a single examination allows students to understand their weaknesses and improve. Moreover, she advises those facing exams to look after themselves to perform as well as possible.
Alexander de Jong, in Year 13, opines that the method for providing teacher-assessed grades is just and mostly accurate. He also recommends students in this situation to remain calm and simply “make sure you try your best”.
